Will you take the place of my partner?
No. Your partner and I both have very important roles during your labor. I will encourage your partner to be as involved in your labor as you both wish, and provide suggestions for your partner.
Will you photograph our labor or birth for us?
I would be more than happy to take pictures on your device or camera as long as I am not needed as your doula at that moment.
How late in pregnancy can I still hire you?
I prefer to be engaged before the 38th week of your pregnancy so that there is more time for us to get to know each other and discuss your birth preferences, but you may engage me at any time before labor.
Do I need to pay your entire fee upfront?
No. I will except payments as long as the full fee is paid by your 36th week of pregnancy.
Will you judge my pregnancy, birth, or parenting choices?
No. I am here to support you while you make decisions for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I support many different kinds of births.
Do you offer discounts?
I offer discounts to single mothers without other labor support, to first time mothers 19 years old and younger, and veterans/military (and their partners).
Can I hire you for my scheduled C-section?
A doula is still a valuable member of your birth team during a c-section. We can discuss your preferences for the c-section and work on relaxation techniques beforehand. I will accompany you during your c-section, and follow you to your recovery room afterwards to keep you comfortable if your doctor allows. I will also stay up to two hours postpartum to assist with baby's first feeding if time allows.
